I may have more experience with roofing than most home owners and that experience will be relayed here. I have had 3 re-roofing experiences in my lifetime and that is after having installed roofing myself at a much younger age, when those air guns were just a dream in the inventor’s mind. My experience began with Guy Stilwell, Account Manager for Clean Cut Roofing, who worked with me to get the job that I needed planned and watched over the process with me. Re-roofing is a very time consuming process, so when a team shows up the coordination of each member is required to keep the effort within the desired limits of time.
When the Clean Cut crew showed up, the organizational components went to work immediately preparing for the task of removing the previous shingles and under layment. The ground crew began putting down tarps to collect the debris, and protecting the shrubs around the house. As the removal began, ground personnel picked up loads of debris and carried it to the dumpster which came with them that morning. There were no slackers, no interruption in progress, and by noon on the first day the roof was ready for inspection, repair, and upgrades of the whirly vents to ridge vents, a 3 to 1 improvement in heat loss.
By lunch break, all debris that was in the way of the new installation was out of the way and the new under layment began its installation. Praise is given here for the newer materials which are stronger, lighter, more tear resistant and more water resistant than the old tar felt could ever be. The addition of the new shingles with the new air gun nailers was a sight to witness. I believe anyone who has installed shingles will tell you the first course is the one that sets the stage for the rest of that section of the roof. It was laid with perfection, and every course thereafter followed that pattern.
Every worker had his job in the installation process. Moving shingle packages to the lift, moving them up to the roof, taking those packages to the roof ridge, supplying the installers with fresh shingles for the next in line, and it went like clockwork. I wish I had videoed the process, it was as close to mechanically perfect as I have ever witnessed from humans. I was told that morning that this team was the A Team. But I did not realize how true that was until I witnessed the accuracy and precision with which the team worked. The second day was all about completion of the shingle installation and cleanup. No wasted motion, they added extra protection for the valleys and completion of the ridge vent system. If perfect has any competition for this installation, I do not know what it would be. The cleanup was complete, thorough, and without any damage to anything. I give my 100% support to Clean Cut Roofing for its salesmanship, scheduling, timeliness, professional installation, and overall workmanship. I believe this is a roof I will be pleased with for the rest of my life.
